[Vessels for Cooling: Kanamari]
As the weather gets hotter, vessels start appearing on the dining table much more frequently for their refreshing, cool look. Formed by hammering a sheet of tin into a mold, each Kanamari from Otera Kohachiro Shoten is crafted entirely by hand by artisans. It has a comfortable weight, and 0.5% silver is blended into the tin to provide extra strength, endowing it with the durability to withstand long years of use.
The Kanamari, which evokes a sense of chilly beauty, pairs exceptionally well with cold dishes. Serving a simple hiyayakko (chilled tofu) that makes the white tofu stand out beautifully, a fresh salad, hiyashi chuka (chilled Chinese noodles), or juicy fruits and desserts on it will surely deliver a sense of "cooling" to your dining table.
Due to the rising costs of raw materials, the prices will be revised in the near future. It is on display at the Ginza Showroom starting today, so please feel free to pick it up and take a close look when you visit. If you are considering a purchase, we would highly appreciate your early order.
