The best part about the day after overindulging in drinks is having a huge bowl of rice for lunch. Since your liver is busy breaking down alcohol and running low on energy, eating a substantial meal helps it recover.
Today, I made chicken rice (ji rou fan) for the first time in ages and piled it high—an extra-large serving of nearly two rice cooker cups, something I've never even seen in Taiwan before. It was so delicious I polished it off in no time.
For us, cooking and eating delicious rice is the ultimate form of self-care and a daily luxury. While I love dining out for the many lessons and discoveries it brings, there's something special about using ingredients at home to create something satisfying. It's those moments when your heart and body exclaim, “This is it!” without spending a fortune that feel like pure happiness.
I truly hope you all get to experience this joy as well. Here's the recipe and the tableware I used.
