[Add History and Tradition to Your Everyday Life With a Stylish Kokura-Ori Handkerchief]
Kokura-ori, cherished since the early Edo period as a specialty of the Kokura domain in Buzen Province. This exquisite fabric, beloved by figures like Tokugawa Ieyasu and Sakamoto Ryoma, is characterized by its high density, durability, and a lustrous, smooth texture. Though production once ceased, it was revived in 1984 by textile artist Noriko Tsukiji, beginning a new chapter in its history.
Kiya's original Kokura-ori handkerchief was created in collaboration with Noriko Tsukiji and Kokura Creation, the brand behind “Shima Shima,” inspired by Kiya's iconic navy blue noren curtain. It features the deep “Kiya navy blue” fabric, “konshima shimofuri,” made by twisting together dark black and deep indigo threads selected from 96 samples.
Perfect as a gift, this handkerchief charms with its rich, shadowed hues. Slightly thicker for a sturdy feel, it suits all ages and genders. As this is a limited-stock item ending soon, we encourage you to consider purchasing it promptly.
