[How to Enjoy Coffee in Scandinavia]

Many of you may enjoy a cup of hot coffee on a cold day. Coffee is sometimes referred to as a “cooling drink,” but in the right amount, it can also promote blood circulation and warm the body.

However, it is important to note that if you add a lot of sugar or milk, your blood sugar level rises rapidly and your body temperature tends to drop afterward. It is recommended to enjoy it black or to use a moderate amount of sugar or milk. It is also recommended to replace sugar with warming brown sugar or to add spices that have a strong warming effect on the body, such as cinnamon, to make flavored coffee. Furthermore, tasting bread, cookies, or cakes made with cinnamon, ginger, or cardamom together is a great way to enjoy coffee during the cold season.

In addition, coffee has a strong diuretic effect, so be sure to stay hydrated. Drinking water or tea after drinking coffee will improve the flow of blood and keep your body cool.

Now, how about coffee drinking in cold regions, or in Scandinavia, which is known as a region with high coffee consumption? People in Scandinavia generally enjoy shallow-roasted, acidic, tea-like coffee. Among them, the traditional way of drinking coffee called “kaffeost” is really interesting. It is said that this style of drinking, in which coarsely ground coffee is brewed and extracted, and a hard-to-melt type of cheese is added to it, originated with the Sami, an indigenous people of Scandinavia. “Ost” means cheese in Swedish, and this drink seems to be similar to butter coffee or Tibetan butter tea. It is a unique coffee to try.

When drinking coffee, choosing your favorite utensils and cups is also a part of the fun. Even in spring, cold weather can still persist. Why not spend a fulfilling coffee time with a cup of aromatic coffee and a device that warms you up?
