[Orange Is a Big Hit]

As the cold season is in full swing, I am less active, and my body feels somewhat heavy after eating too much during the New Year's feast. In an effort to warm up and lighten my body in a healthy way, I often have one-pot meals for dinner. The oranges in my garden are useful in this light one-pot dish with plenty of vegetables, tofu, and mushrooms.

The oranges in our garden bear fruit and change color every year. They were introduced to Japan from China in ancient times. The Japanese name “daidai” comes from the fact that the fruit does not easily fall off, and the same tree will continue to bear new fruit for several years (daidai) after it has matured. The orange is a good-luck charm, with the wish that descendants will prosper and the family will be blessed for generations to come, and is used as a decoration for New Year's decorations and Kagamimochi (mirror-shaped rice cakes).

The main reason for the scarcity of oranges is that they are not suitable for eating raw due to their strong acidity and bitterness. Because they cannot be eaten quickly and easily, people tend to put off harvesting them even though they have a strong presence in the garden.

However, since I started using a juicer, I have been able to use oranges in a wider variety of ways. Squeezing the juice and adding it to a favorite sauce, such as commercially available ponzu (Japanese sauce made with ponzu citrus juice and soy sauce and vinegar), adds a sour and savory taste to the familiar one, giving it a different flavor. Sour juice contains high levels of vitamins C and E, which are considered strong antioxidants, and high levels of citric acid, which helps relieve fatigue, so even if you add just a little to your cooking, the sour taste will permeate your body, and make you feel closer to health.

The Azmaya juicer stops the seeds and collects the juice at the bottom, so you can make dressings and sauces as is, and the spout makes it easy to use at the table, and thanks to its ease of use, you will be able to continue eating health-conscious meals.
