[The Chinese Zodiac]
The Chinese zodiac, which originated in ancient China, is a system in which the year is represented by 12 different animals. By combining 10 types of “zodiac” and 12 types of “zodiac signs,” the Chinese zodiac can be further subdivided into 60 types.
The Chinese zodiac is based on the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water (Five Elements Theory), each of which has different properties. On the other hand, the “zodiac” consists of 12 different animals (rat, ox, tiger, etc.). The Chinese zodiac has long been used in various fields of Eastern culture, such as calendars, fortune telling, and feng shui.
This year, 2025, is the year of the “乙巳” (kinotomi). The “乙” (kinoto) signifies the beginning of growth, like the appearance of a new bud. The “巳” (mi) symbolizes the power to take on new challenges without fear of change, like a snake. This is why the year of “乙巳” is said to be a good year for starting something new and growing while embracing change.
May 2025 be a year of growth and breakthrough for all of you.
