[Tie-Dye Gamaguchi]

Nitomi's Tie-Dye Gamaguchi is handmade one by one by the designer, Mr. Urabe, who has experience in craftsmanship both in Japan and abroad.

The gamaguchi features a large mouth that can be opened with a snap, making it easy to see what is inside. It can be used not only as a wallet, but also as an accessory case and a key case. It is good to be able to see at a glance where everything is.

Gamaguchi go well with kimono and some may consider them to be an ancient Japanese item, but in fact, they are imported from overseas. It is said that Japanese merchants brought it back to Europe during the Meiji Era, and its history is only about 150 years old.

In the Taisho era, as clothing became more practical and the number of workplaces where women could play an active role expanded, bags with a mouthpiece came into common use. From this period onward, gamaguchi became popular in people's daily lives, regardless of whether they were wearing Japanese or Western-style clothing.

Nitomi's gamaguchi is made using traditional Japanese tie-dyeing. It was born from the fact that Mr. Urabe's family is in the tie-dyeing manufacturing business. The fabrics are on both front and back, and each can be selected from five different colors. Of course, you can choose colors that match your everyday clothes or a favorite combination of colors, or you can choose to match your Sunday best you wear on important occasions or the yukata you wear for summer.

Japan has four distinct seasons. Therefore, when wearing kimonos, light pastel pinks reminiscent of cherry blossoms and peaches are used in early spring, green and wisteria colors are used when the cherry blossoms are falling, and cold colors and pale tones give a cool impression when summer approaches. In the fall, we are aware of the changing leaves, and in the winter, we choose gorgeous shades of color as the natural colors of the season are fewer.

If you choose colors and patterns that allow you to experience the season with your eyes, we think you will be able to luxuriously enjoy the season in your heart as well. Please experience the pleasure of choosing colors according to the four seasons, just like a kimono, with gamaguchi.
