[Starting a Ten-year Diary]

Recently, we have been hearing a lot about the importance of keeping a diary. It is said to be effective in improving daily life, decluttering the mind, regulating the autonomic nervous system, and activating the brain.

Many successful people such as writers and athletes also keep a diary. It's more than just the act of writing about your daily life, it's the effect that leads to success. You can write in a way that suits you. Surprisingly, shorter sentences are more useful later on, and you don't have to write every day, just one to three lines.

Marukawa Shoten's 10-year diary "Hijiki" is currently on display in our Ginza Showroom. When we actually took it out of the bag, we were amazed at the texture of the deep indigo solid color. It is very beautiful. We hope you will take it in your hands and see for yourself.

The material used for the cover of the book is Matsusaka cotton, a traditional craft designated by Mie Prefecture with a history of about 500 years. Even today, natural indigo is still used for dyeing and weaving, just as it was in the past. It is a diary with the appearance of an A5 size "book" and a simple design with only the date and ruled lines inside.

What did we think of ourselves last year, and three or five years ago, and what were our days like? When you read it back, you may remember funny events, sometimes send a shout of "don't worry!" to yourself at that time, or even create hints for your future self.

What will we be doing 10 years from now? Let's enjoy it together with the deep indigo color.

[From Ox to Tiger, the Years of Going and Coming]

The 2022 "tiger" chopstick rest, a product produced only once a year, has arrived. The chopstick rests are made in Hasami-cho, Nagasaki Prefecture, using a technique called "inban" in which the pattern is hand-printed one by one. Each tiger is dyed one at a time, and has a gentle expression and cute back.

On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, there are many occasions to use chopsticks and chopstick rests, such as New Year's Eve Soba and Osechi. How about bridging the gap from the old year to the new year with chopstick rests featuring the "ox" and "tiger," the symbols of each year? It is also a good idea to send them as a New Year's greeting to distant friends or those who have been good to you.

This set of five pieces comes in a special box and is limited to one production run only.

We wish you all the best in the going and coming years.
